Education reformers send Wisconsin teachers union a message

Education reformers with the group READER-WI (Reforming Education And Demanding Excellent Results) sent a message to taxpayers and union officials by way of a billboard on the Beltline near WEAC headquarters in Madison.

The humongous sign depicts a bummed-out school girl with a famous quote from former American Federation of teachers President Albert Shanker: [...]

Who are these people?

We recently documented the type of folks who are involved in the effort to recall Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker. Video of a protest outside an Americans for Prosperity conference in Milwaukee revealed the participation of a very radical segment of society.

But a series of other recent videos show that the union-sponsored protesters and their allies may [...]

MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin is ground zero in the battle for education reform.
And despite the ugly union protests in the state capitol of Madison in February, 2011, it appears that Gov. Scott Walker and his historic legislation that curbed collective bargaining privileges for public sector labor unions may survive a critical [...]

Poll shows Wisconsin residents have limited interest in Big Labor’s fight with Walker

Recall is all about union revenge, but citizens interested in other issues
Wisconsin’s pending recall election is not about Republicans vs. Democrats.

It’s about the public sector unions seeking revenge against Gov. Scott Walker for Act 10, which cancelled many of their collective bargaining privileges.

And it’s becoming more clear every day that the people of [...]

Some of the worst schools spend more per student than the best schools

Unions lost bargaining privileges because they routinely abused them
On Tuesday, Education Action Group released a report titled “The Bad Old Days of Collective Bargaining: Why Act 10 Was Necessary for Wisconsin Public Schools.”

The main point of the report was simple: Act 10, and the resulting loss of many collective bargaining privileges, may [...]

Potential bias in Wisconsin’s Gov. Scott Walker recall

The state Republican Party is calling for a state judicial commission to investigate the alleged conflict of interest of Dane County Circuit Court Judge David Flanagan, who recently suspended Wisconsin’s voter ID law after signing a petition to recall the governor.

Republicans are questioning the judge’s “failure … to maintain the appearance of impartiality” [...]

Hey mom, read this union propaganda my teacher gave me!

One parent of a Milwaukee Public Schools student is speaking out against a flyer sent home with her son regarding Wisconsin’s voter ID law.

It should be noted that the ID law was temporarily blocked by an anti-Walker judge in Dane County, and the state Republican Party has filed a formal complaint about the judge’s apparent [...]
